SUMMARY:Engineering Trustworthy AI Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Engineering Trustworthy AI Workshop\nRegister TECHWORKS PARTNERED WORKSHOP: OPEN TO ALL\nThe role of automation is set to increase in cybersecurity and trust in those systems is essential. IoTSF is keen to support the development of trustworthy AI systems and – as a member of the TechWorks family of connected communities – we are co-hosting a workshop for interested parties to ensure our efforts are purposeful and coordinated across stakeholder groups. \nOur key question: AI innovation is accelerating and the legislative and governance responses are being rapidly assembled; but how should industry collectively respond to ensure a healthy balance between innovation and protection?  \nAt the workshop\, we will dive into what it takes to engineer trustworthy AI systems and how a collaborative effort can support that intent. We will be exploring the constituent parts such as design schemas\, methods\, approaches\, best practices\, frameworks\, and the potential for standards. Whilst the core theme will be “engineering AI systems”\, we cannot achieve our aim without understanding the wider contexts presented by the business\, policy\, legal and ethical themes as well. If your interest is in any of these areas – you should come along as we want to hear from you. \nThis is your opportunity to present your position and help forge the collective industry response. \nAs an outcome of the workshop\, we will:\n\nIdentify and prioritise areas for collective industry action.\nPublish the results and start building appropriate industry-led groups.\n\nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:IoTSF June Webinar: Engineering Trustworthy AI
DESCRIPTION:Register for FREEEngineering Trustworthy AI\nArtificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most transformative technologies of our time. It has the potential to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems\, however\, it also poses risks and in recent years as the field has exploded\, there have been growing concerns about those risks. \nElon Musk\, for example\, has warned that AI could be potentially more dangerous than nuclear weapons. With two prominent experts in the field\, Dr. Nick Allott and Professor Subramanian Ramamoorthy\, this Zoom webinar will explore how we can engineer AI systems so that they are trustworthy. \nThis event is delivered in partnership with TechWorks connected communities IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF)\, Automotive Electronic Systems Innovation Network (AESIN) and Technology Network for Embedded Systems (TechNES). It is an open event for members and guests. \nSarb Sembhi\nCo-Chair of the Smart Built Environment Working Group and IoTSF Executive Steering Board Member \nSarb is the  CTO for Virtually Informed\, and had several CISO roles. He speaks\, writes and contributes to many events and publications. He was shortlisted for the CSO30 2021 Awards\, and was shortlisted 5 in the IFSecGlobal 2020 20 Most Influential People in Security. He is a mentor for start-ups and a board advisor\, as well as Co-Chair of the Smart Built Environment Group and Executive Steering Board member of the IoTSF. \nJames Willison\nCo-Chair of the Smart Built Environment Working Group \nIn March 2022\, James Willison joined IoTSF as Project and Engagement Manager\, and is co Chair of the IoTSF Smart Built Environment Working Group. He has campaigned for over twenty years to bring the cyber and physical security realms closer together. He works with Sarb Sembhi on the IFSEC Converged Security Centre and on Smart City Security White papers. SUMMARY:ManySecured Working Group with Guest speaker: Hiran Ravat\, Head of IoT Business Development and Partnerships at CSL Group
DESCRIPTION:Agenda \nGuest speaker: Hiran Ravat\, Head of IoT Business Development and Partnerships at CSL Group followed by Q & A \nSBOMs (Software Bill of Materials) provide a way to describe the functional sub components of a software system. Their usage is increasingly being “required” by governments to increase transparency and provide improved cyber protections. NquiringMinds are developing a tool (soon to be open sourced) that will help navigate the relationship between SBOM components and vulnerabilities (CVES). The goal is to provide comparable metrics on the safety of systems\, with a particular focus on measuring the impact of memory safety interventions. \nWe will be giving a brief overview of the tool’s development to date\, and inviting input on future features and indeed potential collaborators. \nDr. Nick Allott will provide updates on working group projects and policies. \nPlease contact James Willison for registration details at james.willison@techworks.org.uk \n\nWe encourage you to join our slack channel to participate in the project.\n\n\nSlack invite: https://join.slack.com/t/manysecured/shared_invite/zt-1t1f6j582-y1Lvi0aEoItd2_EtvuGVCA

SUMMARY:IoTSF March Webinar: Smart Built Environment Guidance for Facilities Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Register for FREESmart Built Environment Guidance for Facilities Professionals\nThe exciting new series of monthly Zoom webinars continue on Thursday 30th March. The topic will be Smart Built Environment Guidance for Facilities Professionals. \nTaking place on the final Thursday of every month throughout 2023\, we’ll showcase the latest thought leadership on a range of topics so that you stay ahead of the curve on IoT security. \nIn this webinar we discuss new Guidance from the IoT Security Foundation on IoT Security for Facilities Professionals and focus on Smart Built Environments. \nThe IoTSF formed a Smart Building working group in 2017 to look at the issue of risk to buildings from cyber attacks. \nThe topic has become more important over the years and leaders from the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) joined to help write relevant and important guidance for facilities professionals and the key stakeholders they need to work with to manage the risk effectively. \nIn larger organisations\, this will include cyber and physical security teams and be part of a general enterprise risk management strategy. But for many SMEs there will be fewer experts to help and this guidance indicates what needs to be done. It takes the view that by identifying the risk and requirements that the organisation will be more resilient. \nWe are delighted to welcome Sarb Sembhi\, Co-Chair of the Smart Built Environment working group and IoTSF Executive Steering Board member. \nJoining him will be James Willison\, Co-Chair of the IoTSF Smart Built Environment working group. \nWhat could be more important than securing our buildings against cyber attacks if our systems and the technology falls down? \nJoin host Chris Bennison on Thursday 30th March. \nSarb Sembhi\nCo-Chair of the Smart Built Environment Working Group and IoTSF Executive Steering Board Member \nSarb is the  CTO for Virtually Informed\, and had several CISO roles.
