After 21 years in a ‘servant leadership’ role at TechWorks – half of my career – it’s time for me to move on to the next stage.

It’s been demanding work, but an absolute honour and privilege to serve the UK tech ecosystem and TechWorks’ vibrant ‘connected communities’. I’m proud to have contributed to many projects, workshops, trade missions, consultations and initiatives across the IoT Security Foundation, NMI, AESIN, and TechWorks-AI.

I’m especially proud of a few milestones along the way:

– Establishing and leading the semiconductor design team and community within NMI for 10 years

– Co-founding the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF)

– Co-founding the IoT Security Foundation, which has grown into a respected international voice with the mission to make it safe to connect

Beyond the achievements, this role gave me something even more valuable – a world-class education in collaboration. I’ve had the pleasure of working with literally thousands of brilliant people: leaders, engineers, academics, public servants, and supply chain experts, both here in the UK and around the world. It’s been an amazing journey, and one that has enriched me personally and professionally in ways I could never have imagined.

None of it would have been possible without all of you. To everyone I’ve connected with on LinkedIn – whether we collaborated on technology, business, policy, standards or best practices – thank you. Your support and partnership have made a difference.

Special thanks go to:

– All past and present chairs and board members of the original National Microelectronics Institute (NMI), especially those involved in our much-loved Operations Forum and Design Networks

– Every past and present board member of the IoT Security Foundation — thank you for helping turn an idea into a trusted global brand

– My past and present colleagues at TechWorks — your hard work and dedication under challenging circumstances has been inspiring

From the bottom of my heart, thank you one and all. I wish you continued success, prosperity and fulfilment in everything you do.

To my soon-to-be ex-colleagues – you do a tough but vital job, and I know you’ll continue to excel. Best wishes for the future!

Finally, I’m delighted to hand over the reins of the IoT Security Foundation to Christopher Bennison and operational leadership at TechWorks to Jillian Hughes. Good luck both, I know you’ll continue to do a great job supporting the UK tech sector.

I look forward to staying in touch as I step into my next phase. Here’s to the bright future of UK tech.

Sincerity, gratitude and warmest regards,

John Moor
